A Forgery Of Roses follows Myra Whitlock, a girl with a rare ability. After painting someone, person or animal, any altercations she makes alter their real bodies as well. This gift is seen as a curse by the governor, however when his son dies his wife seeks her out for this talent. Myra's sister is very sick and they desperately need money, so Myra is convinced to try to paint the son back to life. But she also needs to know how he died to do that, and he's been murdered!
This was a unique magical ability that I haven't read about before! I also love a good fantasy mystery, it's always cool to see how the magical powers can play into the puzzle. This book didn't disappoint. Some of the characters felt a little one dimensional though. My favorite part of this book was the love interest, August and how his struggles with anxiety were portrayed.
