Review -

I've seen Queerly Beloved at my local indie bookstore & the airport, but finally got my hold in at the library! I usually read YA romcoms, so adult is a bit different for me, but it was still really enjoyable. This book follows Amy after she gets outed at the religious bakery she works at and fired. At the same time, she starts dating a girl named Charley. I actually liked reading more about Amy finding a job she's good at/accepted at than I did the romance. If you like baking books or weddings, you'll enjoy this!  I wish more had been done about the homophobic bakery, but that's also realistic to the year we were in sadly. I did like the conversations on LGBT+ marriages. I remember being twelve and hearing about that on Tumblr and being so happy.

Spring/Summer Fantasy Recommendations

Hemlock Queen - 4/5 stars, sequel to the Foxglove King. Romantasy! I can't be the only one pining for Bastian, Gabriel and Lore to just all be together right guys? Give me book three after that cliffhanger. Really enjoyed the gods backstory in this one and how they are all tied together.   A Feather so Black - a fun adult romantasy for fans of the Cruel Prince and Emily Wilde. Fae, changelings and curses galore. It's also a swan lake retelling! This book set out to do a lot in 500 pages and pulls it off well. Excited for book 2 in the series.  Lady of Light and Shadows - 4/5 stars. Second book in the Tairen Soul series, now with new covers! This is a romantasy series for fans of acotar. I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first. Absolutely despise the main character's mother. Book Info: A Darker Mischief by Derek Milman Genre: Young Adult Mystery/Thriller Publishing Date: July 2, 2024 Review - 4/5 stars  This was a fun queer dark academia YA thriller. I would say this is definitely more upper YA, I don't think I would have understood most of this or it would've been too much at ages 14-16. There's a lot of interesting history/architect information that made it feel dark academia.
